Chocolate for many equals guilty pleasures, but what if there is no guilt required? I’m not talking about the chocolates in desserts or candies, I’m referring to the rich dark chocolate that has so many benefits. Theobroma Cacao, the Latin name for chocolate is translated as “Food of the Gods” and rightly so. A bite into a chocolate almost always transports you to heaven.

However, try small amounts of high-quality dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa. It generally has less sugar and saturated fat than milk chocolate or other kinds of chocolate.

Chocolate can modulate healthy blood flow which helps your skin. Not only does one get glowing skin there are many chocolate packs that beauticians recommend. One also has noticed the skin density and thickness increases. Ironically, chocolate is the answer for glowing skin.

 

5. Chocolate improves brain health

According to the experts at Harvard medical Scientists they have said that drinking two cups of hot chocolate a day could help keep the brain healthy. How it works is that the chocolate helps increase the blood flow to parts of the brain where it was required.

We are saving the best for the last, cocoa beans have a high antioxidant capacity helps reduce inflammation of the skin from the sun’s exposure. Also, eating dark chocolate can increase the ability to retain moisture, which in turn reduces wrinkles and make you look younger.

But this doesn’t mean one starts to binge on chocolate! Most of the chocolates you buy in the store are heavily processed and has lost its nutritive value. Also beware of some misleading articles that showcase chocolate’s health benefits, they are usually sponsored by chocolate companies. One needs to find rich high quality dark chocolate with 70% cocoa to reap its benefits.
