Top 10 Foods to Avoid When You Turn 30


While the twenties were really easy where you could eat a pizza for breakfast and muffins for snacking with your favourite cola, it is time to change these habits soon! Steer clear of the following foods once you hit the age 30 and trust us on this that your 40-year-old self will thank you for this change.

1 Aerated Drinks

If you are thinking about losing weight, then aerated drinks in any form is the first thing you must tick off from the list. This drink with absolutely no nutritional value can contribute to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, diabetes and an increased risk of cancer. What’s worse? This is also linked to negatively impact ovulation and sperm motility.

2 Canned/Packaged Foods

Don’t be fooled by the look of this particular food item. Canned foods are laced with BPA, a chemical that has been associated with health problems like heart diseases and type 2 diabetes. Did you know canned soups alone carry 40 percent of the daily salt intake in just one serving? Also canned foods are loaded with preservatives, sugar and sodium to give them a longer shelf life. Canned food spoilage is also pretty common.

3 Salad Dressings

As fun, healthy and a quick solution to our salads it may sound, most salads dressings are loaded with calories, sodium and added sugar!

4 White Bread

Vegetable Oils are low in saturated fats and high in polyunsaturated fats which oxidize easily linking them to cancer, heart diseases, PCOS etc!

Shubri Tip: Use coconut oil, mustard oil and the good old desi ghee to cook food that has been used for centuries in India. Look for high quality organic versions of the oils!



  1. Fried Food

Facing a tough time choosing between a bowl of broccoli and a bowl of French Fries? Although having fried food items once in a while is perfectly okay, you need to watch out on your weight and other diseases (cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc.) linked to fried food, if you like binging on it quite often!

  1. Chips and Microwave Popcorns

Whether there is potato chips or banana chips, let’s accept it, we all have a favourite! But they are energy dense food with very little nutritional value. They are associated with various health issues like blood pressure and other heart diseases.

Big companies have transformed popcorns which is otherwise a healthy snack (when eaten in its purest form) into something harmful for our health. Did u know a regular packet of butter popcorns has 5g of trans fat per serving which is almost double the recommended daily intake for you.

Shubri Tip: If you can’t resist chips, opt for low sodium and the baked variety. Go back to your regular popcorns and pop your corn kernels on the stove.



  1. Sugar Free Snacks

Are you really excusing yourself and having more food items by opting for ‘sugar free’ products? If yes, then you have to stop right now! By completely avoiding artificial sweeteners your organs will actually work more efficiently and in turn make your waist slimmer.

  1. Processed Meats

Attention to all the men! According to a recent study an association has been found between eating processed meats and lower sperm count. We agree that the salamis, hot dogs, smoked meat or canned meat are all very tempting and quick fixes to the preparation of our meals. But they are also linked with chronic diseases like high blood pressure and other heart diseases.
